How do I keep my succulents alive (and flourishing)? Most people know that succulents are plants that need less water than other plants. This is due to their ability to store water in their leaves and/or stems. However, just because they can store water does not mean they will thrive without your attention. Like any plant, the more care you give it, the better it will do. First and foremost, if you keep your succulent inside, you MUST give it very bright light. "Bright light" can be found next to (i.e. inches from) a window in the brightest room of your house. If you live in an apartment or house with low light levels, Doc strongly suggests you buy a grow light. There are many options, including lights that look like floor lamps, so you can grow succulents in your family room! The more light your succulent gets, the more water it will need. As a rule of thumb, water once per week during the warm months or if growing under a grow light. During the cooler months, scale that back to once every 2 weeks. The best way to get good growth on your succulent is to send it off to summer camp outside. Whether it's a porch or a deck or a table covered with all the plants you've purchased and have not yet planted, succulents do best when grown outside during the warm season. A little shade is helpful but not necessary. Finally, most of Doc's succulents are sensitive to frost. You MUST bring your succulent inside when frost is forecasted. o add a new question go to app settings and press "Manage Questions" button.
